Email update: New Mather Veterans Village
I was honored to recently take part in the groundbreaking for the new Mather Veterans Village. I'm proud to have worked with community leaders and local vets to help make this project a reality. Join my email updates now so you don't miss any in the future!
Earlier this week, I was honored to take part in the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Mather Veterans Village.
This new village will provide housing for disabled and homeless veterans. It will be a model for how to honor our promises to veterans, and thank the men and women who have served our great nation.

When finished, it will have 100 permanent supportive housing units and 60 transitional beds for local vets.
The village will include common areas, group dining, and even classrooms. This will ensure local vets have a service-rich living environment with a community feel.
To move this project forward, my office worked with federal agencies to secure more veteran housing vouchers for our area. This helped ensure that construction could begin without any further delays.
As a doctor who has helped care for veterans, I have seen first-hand how much our heroes have sacrificed for us. We must do a better job of ensuring veterans have access to the health care and support services they have earned.
That's why I have directed my local office to do all it can to help Sacramento County veterans. We hired a Wounded Warrior Iraq War vet to help vets with backlogged benefits and health care issues, and are here to help in any way we can.
I'm proud to say that we've now helped local veterans recover more than $1 million in backlogged benefits and services. If you or someone you know needs help, please call us at (916) 635 0505 or visit my Help for Vets page for more information.
