Email update: Violence Against Women Act 20th Anniversary and more.
I sent an email update on Saturday about the 20th anniversary of the Violence Against Women Act and more. You can see it here - and make sure to join my updates now so you don't miss any in the future!

Congress should be a place for service, not career politicians who are in it for themselves. Here’s a new update on how I’m working for you:
Standing Against Domestic Violence
Today, we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the passage of the Violence Against Women's Act.
This anniversary, and recent events that have put the issue of domestic violence front and center, are important reminders that our society must continue to do all we can to end domestic violence. If you or someone you know needs help, contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 for assistance.

As a doctor who has cared for victims of domestic and sexual violence, I am committed to ensuring that all women have access to a wealth of resources that empower them and protect them from violence.
In one of my very first acts as your Congressman, I was proud to vote for a bipartisan bill to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act, which is now law and is helping to protect women and families throughout our country.
The Violence Against Women Act gives medical professionals and police the tools they need to prevent violence and protect women by providing a national registry of forensic evidence from sexual assault cases, strengthening criminal anti-trafficking laws, and providing temporary housing for victims.

Introduced New Bill to Block Twin Tunnel Funding

Earlier this week, I joined with Congressmen Jerry McNerney and John Garamendi to introduce a bill that blocks federal funding for a plan that would build twin tunnels underneath the delta.
This flawed proposal does nothing to increase our water supply and only diverts more water from the Sacramento area to Southern California. Not only that, but it will cost taxpayers billions, and hurt countless farmers and small businesses in our region.
We must stop this misguided plan, and continue to fight for real bipartisan solutions to secure water access and storage throughout our state.
