Creating jobs in Sacramento County and building an economy that works for middle class families are my top priorities in Congress. That’s why I’m holding a workshop to help connect Sacramento County small business owners with tools and resources from the U.S. Census Bureau that can help their businesses succeed.

In our 21st century information age, having access to the right data and information is crucial for the success of many small businesses.  Learning how to take advantage of public data available from the U.S. Census Bureau can help businesses make the right strategic decisions now that can help them grow and hire in the future.

Making government work for Sacramento County is one of my most important jobs as your elected representative.  This workshop can help small business owners learn how data from the U.S. Census Bureau data can assist you with better understanding competitive forces within your industry.  For example:

  • What are the industry trends for each industry in which my business competes?
  • What is the rank and growth rate of my industry? What is my business market potential?
  • Who are the buyer or buyer groups? What are their demographics and socioeconomic characteristics?
  • Where are my competitors? What is the number of competing establishments? What are their annual costs? What were their annual sales?
  • Where are my suppliers?
