A Congressman from California is coming to Queens.
U.S. Rep. Ami Bera will speak to teens at a South Asian Youth Action conference in Elmhurst Saturday in a bid to raise awareness about the American political process.

When California Congressman Ami Bera met New York Rep. Christopher Gibson at a dinner last April, they began a conversation about how the two of them -- a physician and a retired Army colonel, a Democrat and a Republican -- might work together in Congress to advance the country’s interests.
It didn’t take them long to come up with an idea.
It’s a safe bet that more than a few rank-and-file Democrats in Congress are thinking it, but Rep. Ami Bera of Elk Grove is willing to say it publicly: President Barack Obama is hurting his own cause by not being more inclusive.
Bera points to two issues of major concern to Californians – health care and water – and he’s absolutely right.
