Chairman Bera Statement on Political Turmoil in Samoa
WASHINGTON, DC – Representative Ami Bera, M.D. (D-CA) Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific, Central Asia, and Nonproliferation, released the following statement on the ongoing political turmoil in Samoa.
“I am deeply concerned about the electoral impasse in Samoa. I urge the two political parties to settle their disputes and uphold the results of the elections, which have been confirmed by the judiciary.
The will of the Samoan people must be respected, and the democratic process and the rule of law must be defended.”
