As the House of Representatives heads into a two-week recess today, Rep. Ami Bera (CA-7) is sending a letter to Congressional leadership urging them to require Congress to spend more time working, and less time in recess. Since the 113th Congress convened, the House has been out of session more than it’s been in session, working just 35 out of 76 days.
Rep. Ami Bera led an hour-long discussion on the House of Representatives floor earlier this evening on the importance of strengthening and protecting Medicare. The Ryan Budget, which would end Medicare as we know it, will come up for a vote in Congress tomorrow. Washington, D.C. – Rep. Ami Bera (D-CA-7) and Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL-06) announced today they are filing bipartisan legislation to sequester congressional pay. The “Sequestration of Pay for Members of Congress Act” will reduce pay for Members of Congress by 8.2%.
