Congressman Ami Bera made the following statement following President Obama’s State of the Union address to Congress:
Earlier today Congressman Ami Bera voted for the Require a PLAN Act (H.R. 444). The bill requires the President to submit a balanced budget for fiscal year 2014 or to include in the budget he submits to Congress an estimate of what year the budget will be balanced. The bill passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 253-167 with the support of 227 Republicans and 26 Democrats.
Public invited to open house on February 23
Congressman Ami Bera officially opened his district office in Rancho Cordova on Monday, February 4, 2013. He will host an open house for the public at the office on Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 11 am- 3 pm.
Congressman Ami Bera will hold “Congress on your Corner” events in Arden-Arcade and Florin on January 26 and February 2. “Congress on your Corner” events are open to the public and offer constituents the opportunity to share their thoughts with Congressman Bera and his staff about legislation in Congress and happenings in their community.
WASHINGTON D.C. – Congressman Ami Bera took part in a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing on last year’s attack on the American embassy in Benghazi with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton earlier today.

Votes for short-term debt ceiling suspension bill
Congressman Ami Bera voted today for a bill to suspend the country’s debt ceiling for three months. Included in the bill was a stipulation that if Congress does not approve an annual budget, members will have their salaries withheld.
