Rep. Bera to host resource fair and town hall for Sacramento County veterans

Aug 1, 2013
Press Release

Rep. Ami Bera, M.D. (CA-7) will host the 2013 Veterans Summit on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 to connect local veterans with resources in the Sacramento region and hear about their concerns. The event, at the Rancho Cordova City Hall at 2729 Prospect Park Drive, will begin with a resource fair from 4:00-6:00 pm, followed by a town hall-style meeting for veterans at 6:00 pm where they can talk with Rep. Bera.

“When I visited Afghanistan in May, I had the privilege of witnessing the bravery and dedication of our troops firsthand,” said Rep. Bera. “Our veterans deserve the unwavering support of our community when they return. This Veterans Summit is a unique opportunity for our local veterans to learn about the resources available at home, and to connect with my office on any issues they may need help with.”

At the resource fair, veterans can connect with community organizations for help with finding jobs, learning about vocational and educational opportunities, accessing health care and counseling, and more. During the town hall portion, Rep. Bera will discuss the work he’s doing in Washington to help local veterans and he’ll take questions from the audience. To RSVP to the event, please visit https://bera.house.gov/vets_summit or call the Rancho Cordova office at 916-635-0505.
