Rep. Ami Bera, M.D. (CA-7) offered the following comment on the Obama Administration's announcement earlier today that they will delay the health care law's requirement for employers of a certain size to provide insurance to their employees: "In my visits with businesses across Sacramento County I've heard time and again from business owners worried about the uncertainty surrounding ACA implementation. As our economy slowly recovers, we need to take the time to make sure the law's implementation doesn't send us backwards, and I'm glad the Obama Administration is working to address these concerns. I've always said the health care law needs to be improved and doesn't do enough to address the cost of care. To truly fix our broken health care system in this country we need to start working on ways to bring down the runaway cost of care, which is one of my priorities in Congress." Congressman Ami Bera, M.D. represents Sacramento County. Born and raised in California, Bera is a physician and the only Indian American currently serving in Congress. He’s fighting to rebuild an economy that works for middle class families and to reduce our country’s debt in a responsible way. One of Bera’s first acts in Congress was to help lead the effort to pass the No Budget No Pay Act, which says if members of Congress don’t pass a budget, they don’t get paid. As a co-chair of No Labels' Problem Solvers, he’s working with people from both parties to find bipartisan solutions to our nation’s challenges. He and his wife Janine live in Elk Grove with their daughter Sydra. For more updates on Rep. Bera follow @RepBera on Twitter, like Congressman Bera on Facebook, or visit https://www.bera.house.gov. |
