Today, U.S. Representative Ami Bera, M.D. (CA-06), a senior Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, introduced a bipartisan resolution alongside Representatives Mark Amodei (R-NV-02) and Bill Keating (D-MA-09) recognizing the vital role of the Arctic Council and reaffirming the United States’ commitment to maintaining leadership and collaboration in the Arctic region. Companion legislation has been introduced in the Senate by Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK).

U.S. Representative Ami Bera, M.D. (D-CA-06), a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, introduced bipartisan legislation to establish a permanent Ambassador-at-Large for Arctic Affairs within the U.S. Department of State. 

Following its initial creation by the State Department in 2022, this bill would formally codify the position of U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for Arctic Affairs to ensure the role becomes a permanent fixture of U.S. foreign policy and Arctic engagement.

Today, U.S. Representative Ami Bera, M.D. (D-CA-06), Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on East Asia and Pacific, introduced the U.S.–Japan–ROK Trilateral Cooperation Act, bipartisan legislation to deepen cooperation between the United States, Japan, and the Republic of Korea (ROK).
