Rep. Bera announces federal funding for California Capital to help small businesses pursue federal contracts
Sacramento, CA,
July 3, 2014
SACRAMENTO, CA – Congressman Ami Bera, M.D. applauds California Capital Financial Development Corporation for their new designation as a Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) by the Defense Logistics Agency. This designation will provide federal funds to California Capital, allowing them to provide training, counseling, and resources for businesses to build their capacity and pursue government contracts. "For 31 years California Capital has been helping businesses throughout the Sacramento Region build capacity and capital," noted Rep. Bera. "This important new designation and associated federal funding enables them to expand their resources to help small businesses pursue government contracts. It's a great example of how we can make government work for small businesses so we can grow and strengthen our economy together." California Capital's designation is the first PTAC in the Sacramento and Central Valley region since the Federal Technology Center closed in 2012. California Capital also has a designation as a Community Development Financial Institution with the U.S. Department of Treasury, enabling them to serve Northern California's disadvantaged small businesses. "We are excited about this new opportunity to further provide assets and capacity to small businesses in the Northern Central Valley," said Clarence Williams, President of California Capital. "Doing business with the government represents a tremendous opportunity and California Capital looks forward to offering in-person counseling and training services to local small business owners." "I am very excited about the news that the Capital Region will again have a Procurement Technical Assistance Center available to assist our small businesses," said Joseph McClure, district director of the U.S. Small Business Administration office in Sacramento. "A tremendous amount of government contracting occurs in and around Sacramento, and the PTAC program, through their one-on-one and highly confidential consulting and expertise made available through a network of dedicated procurement professionals, provides that critical component for local small businesses when it comes to successfully bidding on federal, state, and/or local government contracts." Congressman Bera is a strong supporter of California Capital and submitted a letter of support for their proposal for PTAC designation. The letter can be viewed here. |
