Bera Statement on North Korea Sanctions Vote

Congressman Ami Bera, M.D. released the following statement after voting for a bill to impose new sanctions on North Korea. “As a member of the Foreign Affairs committee I understand the threat North Korea poses to our country and the global community. Last month’s nuclear missile test, ongoing human rights abuses, cybersecurity attacks, and the aggressive actions of Kim Jung Un reinforce the importance of imposing stronger sanctions. I recently met with the Korean Foreign Secretary and other leaders to discuss how we can partner with countries in the region to de-escalate tensions.
