Press Release
Rep. Bera Statement on President Biden’s First Address to a Joint Session of Congress
Washington, DC,
April 29, 2021
Representative Ami Bera, M.D. (D-CA) released the following statement after President Biden's first address to a joint session of Congress. "In just 100 days in office, President Biden has made significant progress in our nation's fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Millions of Americans are now vaccinated, cases and deaths are dramatically down, students are returning to the classroom, and more Americans are back to work. Tonight, President Biden was clear-eyed in his vision for addressing this next phase of our recovery: investing in American families and strengthening the middle class. In addition to the American Jobs Plan, which will add millions of good paying jobs over the coming years, I was pleased that the President announced the American Families Plan. This bold legislation will make a once-in-a-generation investment in our nation's future, helping Sacramento County families not only recover from the pandemic, but thrive. I look forward to working with President Biden and my colleagues in Congress to ensure the American Families Plan and future legislation continues to make a positive impact for Sacramento County families and small businesses. We have a responsibility to meet our nation's challenges head on." |
