House Passes Surface Transportation Bill with $19 Million for Sacramento County Infrastructure Projects

Funding secured by Rep. Bera will support projects located in Elk Grove, Folsom, Rancho Cordova, Citrus Heights, and Orangevale

Today, Representative Ami Bera, M.D. (D-CA) applauded House passage of the Investing in a New Vision for the Environment and Surface Transportation (INVEST) in America Act, bipartisan legislation that will reauthorize surface transportation, transit, rail, and water infrastructure programs for the next five years.

In the bill, Rep. Bera secured $19 million in federal funding to directly support transportation projects in Sacramento County.

"Improving our region's infrastructure has long been a top priority of mine since entering Congress. That's why I'm especially proud to have secured $19 million in the House passage of the INVEST Act to directly support infrastructure projects in the Sacramento region," said Representative Bera. "From expanded roads in Rancho Cordova to new outdoor recreational opportunities in Citrus Heights, these projects will help revitalize our region's infrastructure and create good paying jobs for the Sacramento area."

The following projects submitted by Bera, which total $19,320,788, were included in the House passage of the INVEST in America Act (listed in alphabetical order by sponsor):

Project Name: Capital SouthEast Connector - Segment D3 Class 1 Multi-Use Path and Broadband Project

Description: Funding would support construction of smart corridor broadband infrastructure and a new Class 1 Multi-Use trail
Project Name: Arcade-Cripple Creek Trail (formerly Electric Greenway Trail)
Project Sponsor: City of Citrus Heights
Project Location: Citrus Heights, CA 95610 and Orangevale, CA 95662
Requested Amount: $1,100,000
Description: Funding would be used to help construct a 3 mile multi-use trail in Citrus Heights and Orangevale.
Project Name: Old Town Streetscape Phase 2 Project
Project Sponsor: City of Elk Grove
Project Location: Elk Grove, CA 95624
Requested Amount: $2,000,000
Description: Funding would support streetscape and infrastructure improvements on a portion of Elk Grove Boulevard in Old Town Elk Grove
Project Name: White Rock Road - 0.5 Miles East of Rancho Cordova Parkway to the Easterly City Limits

Project Location: Rancho Cordova, CA 95742
Requested Amount: $12,307,000
Description: Funding would support the replacement of the existing two‐lane undivided portion of White Rock Road with a new four-lane road with class II bicycle lanes.
Project Name: Gold Line Light Rail Low Floor Station Conversion
Project Sponsor: Sacramento Regional Transit District
Project Location: Historic Folsom Station (Folsom, CA 95630) and Mather Field Station (Rancho Cordova, CA 95827)
Requested Amount: $1,913,788
Description: Funding would help convert and upgrade 2 Gold Line light rail stations (Mather Field and Historic Folsom) to accommodate new low-floor light rail vehicles and improve accessibility.
The legislation now heads to the Senate for consideration.
