Reps. Bera, Barr, Castro, Miller, Titus, Smith Release Statement on the Visit of Prime Minister Kishida of Japan

Representatives Ami Bera, M.D. (D-CA), Andy Barr (R-KY), Joaquin Castro (D-TX), Carol Miller (R-WV), Dina Titus (D-NV), and Adrian Smith (R-NE) released the following statement on today’s meeting between President Joe Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio.

“As staunch supporters of the U.S.-Japan Alliance, we applaud today’s engagement between President Biden and Prime Minister Kishida. From countering PRC aggression across the Taiwan Strait and in the East China Sea to our strong economic and trade partnership, our Alliance has long been the cornerstone of peace, stability, and security in the Indo-Pacific. Today’s meeting—coming shortly after Japan’s announcement of a new National Security Strategy, National Defense Strategy, and Defense Buildup Program—is yet another testament to the close cooperation between our two countries. We look forward to continuing to work in a bipartisan manner to support the Alliance and Japan’s priorities for its presidency of the G7 this year.”
