SACRAMENTO, CA – Representative Ami Bera, M.D. (CA-06) today released the following statement after the Department of Energy (DOE) announced the California Hydrogen Hub (Alliance for Renewable Clean Hydrogen Energy Systems, ARCHES, LLC) as one of seven regional clean hydrogen hubs across the country.
“I am thrilled that the Department of Energy selected the California Hydrogen Hub for award negotiations which could bring in up to $1.2 billion to continue to work towards a clean energy future,” said Representative Bera. “The California Hydrogen Hub will allow our state to be a leader in research and development of renewable energy while creating thousands of good paying jobs. Investing in clean energy is not only critical in protecting the health of our families and environment, but also in strengthening our nation’s energy security.” Rep. Bera has been a strong champion of innovations in clean energy. The Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs Program was made possible by funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law which Rep. Bera helped secure into law. This hub will produce hydrogen exclusively from renewable energy and biomass to develop methods of decarbonizing public transportation, trucking, and port operations which are often among the hardest industries to decarbonize.
