Rep. Ami Bera Meets with 14th Dalai Lama in India

This week, U.S. Representative Ami Bera, M.D. (CA-06), Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Indo-Pacific, was part of a bipartisan Congressional delegation to India where he met with His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama, in Dharamshala, India.  

Following his meeting with the Dalai Lama, Representative Bera was honored at a felicitation ceremony hosted by the Central Tibetan Administration. The bipartisan delegation reaffirmed the United States Congress’ unwavering support for the Tibetan people and urged Beijing to return to the negotiating table without preconditions to achieve a negotiated resolution that leads to meaningful and lasting autonomy for the Tibetan people. 

“It was a great honor to meet with His Holiness during my bipartisan Congressional delegation to India,” said Representative Ami Bera. “I was inspired by the Dalai Lama’s message of compassion, forgiveness, and the importance of embracing our shared humanity. I am proud to stand with my colleagues in our unwavering support of the Tibetan people in their pursuit of freedom and self-determination.”
