Today, U.S. Representative Ami Bera, M.D. (CA-06), Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Indo-Pacific and Co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on Korea, released a statement on the political unrest in the Republic of Korea (ROK):

“In the midst of a political crisis, the world witnessed the resilience of the Korean people and their elected representatives who acted swiftly to ensure that democracy and the rule of law would prevail.
 
“As Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Indo-Pacific and Co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on Korea, I urge the leaders of the ROK to respect the will of the Korean people in accordance with South Korea's Constitution as next steps are considered.
 
“My commitment to the South Korean people and the alliance between our two nations remains ironclad, as we strengthen our partnership to advance a free, open, and prosperous Indo-Pacific.”
