National Security And Foreign Policy

Keeping Americans safe is my most important responsibility in Congress. In a dangerous and fast-changing world, that means combining strength with judgment, supporting the men and women who protect our country, and defending the democratic values that define us as a nation. As a senior member of both the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, I work every day to strengthen America’s security, support our allies, and help ensure U.S. leadership remains steady, principled, and effective.
Today, the United States faces serious challenges, from terrorism and nuclear proliferation to rising authoritarianism, cyber threats, pandemics, and climate-driven instability. I believe America is strongest when we invest in our military and intelligence capabilities, stand by our democratic allies, and approach global challenges with seriousness and strategic clarity rather than political theater. National security is also about more than military power alone. It is about economic resilience, supply chains, energy security, and whether the United States and our allies can compete and lead in the industries that will shape the future.
Strong leadership also requires accountability. Decisions involving the use of force must be guided by clear strategy, serious deliberation, and respect for the Constitution. Congress has an important role to play in questions of war and peace, and American leadership should always reflect both our strength and our values. I will continue working to protect our national security, support our servicemembers and intelligence professionals, stand with democratic allies, and make sure U.S. foreign policy is strong, wise, and reflective of our values as Americans.
