Committees and Caucuses

Representative Bera serves on two key House Committees in the 119th Congress: the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. 

The House Committee on Foreign Affairs is responsible for legislation and oversight related to: U.S. foreign policy, U.S. foreign assistance, national security developments affecting foreign policy, and U.S. diplomacy.   • Rep. Bera serves as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on East Asia and the Pacific, which has jurisdiction over the Asian region. Rep. Bera also serves on the Subcommittee on South and Central Asia. 

The House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence is charged with providing oversight of the nation’s intelligence activities, including the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI), National Security Agency (NSA), as well as the military intelligence programs. To learn more about the Intelligence Committee, please visit: democrats-intelligence.house.gov.

  • Rep. Bera serves on the National Intelligence Enterprise Subcommittee and the National Security Agency and Cyber Subcommittee.

Representative Bera serves as Co-Chair of the Democratic Doctors Caucus, Whip of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), Co-Chair of the California Public Higher Education Caucus, and Co-Chair of the Childhood Cancer Caucus. He is also a proud member of the New Democrat Coalition, the Pro-Choice Caucus, the Equality Caucus, the Climate Solutions Caucus, and the AI Caucus.
