Bera Stands with Sacramento Federal Workers, Demands Action to End Shutdown
SACRAMENTO, CA –– Today, U.S. Representative Ami Bera, M.D. (CA-06) joined members of AFGE Local 1230 at Sacramento International Airport (SMF) to show support for Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) employees who are working without pay to keep the traveling public safe amid the ongoing federal government shutdown.
During his visit, Congressman Bera met with TSA agents and air traffic controllers and emphasized the unacceptable burden the shutdown is placing on the federal workforce. He called on Republican leadership to return to the negotiating table and work with Democrats to reopen the government and protect access to affordable health care for more than 20 million Americans.
“It is unacceptable that TSA agents and air traffic controllers are being forced to work without pay,” said Representative Bera. “These essential workers continue to do their jobs, but President Trump and Speaker Johnson aren’t doing theirs. We need to reopen the government, pay these workers, and protect access to affordable health care for millions of Americans.”
