Rep. Bera Announces Winners of 2020 Congressional Art Competition

Friday, July 10, 2020

SACRAMENTO, CA – Today, Representative Ami Bera, M.D. (D-CA) announced the winners of the 2020 Congressional Art Competition.

First place winner Allison Hakes graduated this Spring from Folsom High School. Her acrylic on cardstock artwork entitled "Tonight, We Time Travel" will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for a year, alongside winning pieces from every congressional district in the country.

"This year's submissions are a reflection of the incredible artistic talent in our district," said Representative Bera. "Thank you to all the students for submitting their pieces and to the teachers for helping nurture and support the creative abilities of their students, especially during these difficult times. I look forward to seeing Allison's artwork hanging in the halls of the U.S. Capitol and representing CA-07."

The Congressional Art Competition is open to all high school students residing in the 7th Congressional District. Community leaders helped narrow down the submissions to 10 final pieces, which were included in a public Facebook competition that ended in June.
