Rep. Bera Introduces Bipartisan Resolution Recognizing Taiwanese American Heritage Week

Wednesday, May 13, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Representative Ami Bera, M.D. (CA-06) along with Representatives Michael McCaul (TX-10), Young Kim (CA-40) and Greg Stanton (AZ-04) introduced a bipartisan resolution recognizing the week of May 10 through May 16, 2026, as “Taiwanese American Heritage Week.”

The resolution celebrates the more than 700,000 Taiwanese Americans who have contributed to communities across the United States as innovators, educators, entrepreneurs, public servants, members of the Armed Forces, and leaders in science and technology. It also recognizes the close people-to-people ties between the United States and Taiwan and the shared democratic values that continue to strengthen the U.S.-Taiwan partnership.

The measure notes that Taiwanese Americans have helped make the United States “more innovative, more competitive, and more secure,” and highlights the important role Taiwanese Americans have played across all sectors of American society, including as business leaders, scientists, doctors, scholars, human rights advocates, and service members.

The resolution further recognizes Taiwan as a key economic and technological partner of the United States, particularly in advanced manufacturing and the global semiconductor industry, and acknowledges the 47th anniversary of the enactment of the Taiwan Relations Act, a cornerstone of U.S.-Taiwan relations.
