Monday, October 13, 2025

SACRAMENTO, CA — Today, U.S. Representative Ami Bera, M.D. (CA-06), Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on East Asia and the Pacific, released a statement following the release of the 20 remaining living Israeli hostages:

“I am deeply relieved that the remaining 20 living Israeli hostages have been reunited with their families after enduring two years of unimaginable trauma.

“The ceasefire must hold to ensure that humanitarian aid continues reaching civilians in Gaza and to begin the hard but necessary work of rebuilding Gaza and securing a just and lasting peace for both Israelis and Palestinians.

“This progress reflects the power of American diplomacy and leadership on the world stage, and I appreciate the efforts of the Trump Administration and international partners in bringing Phase One of this peace plan to fruition.”
