Afghanistan Information

The U.S. Department of State advises that U.S. Citizens in Afghanistan, Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs) in Afghanistan, and U.S. Citizens and Lawful Permanent Residents who have spouses and children in Afghanistan should fill out a Repatriation Assistance Request:

For information regarding the Immigrant Visa Process:
Do not submit your application to Congressman Bera's office. Congressman Bera's office cannot file any application on anyone's behalf.
For information regarding Special Immigrant Visas:
Regarding SIV applications, the U.S. State Department currently advises the following:
  • Afghan Nationals eligible for SIV program who have not yet applied should submit one complete application package to the National Visa Center. Do not submit your application to Congressman Bera's office. Submit your package here: AfghanSIVapplication@state.gov
  • Afghan Nationals who have already applied should request status check. Submit your status check request with subject line: STATUS CHECK here: AfghanSIVRelocation@state.gov

Please follow directions given by the US Department of State and the Worldwide Refugee Admissions Processing System (WRAPS). Do not submit any applications to Congressman Bera's office.
