"As a doctor, I am deeply concerned and angered by the Trump administration's decision to repeal the contraception coverage requirements in the Affordable Care Act. This rule will allow bosses to deny birth control coverage and decide what's best for women. As a medical professional and public health expert, that's unacceptable.

"As a doctor, I am gravely concerned about the growing humanitarian crisis in Puerto Rico. There are 3.4 million American citizens in dire need of drinking water, food, medical supplies, and electric power. We have to act now and use every option available to support response efforts.

Today, Congressman Ami Bera (CA-07), the Vice Ranking Member on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the longest serving Indian-American in Congress, and Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), the founder of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans, introduced legislation supporting India having a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council. The resolution would put the U.S. House of Representatives officially on record in support of India's bid and has seven original cosponsors.
