U.S. Representative Ami Bera, M.D. (CA-07) today voted for a bipartisan legislative package that would increase funding for our nation's law enforcement and public safety programs, while making concrete investments in mental health and community violence intervention resources.

The Bera-supported legislative package that passed the U.S. House of Representatives today included H.R. 8542, Mental Health Justice Act of 2022, H.R. 4118, Break the Cycle of Violence Act, H.R. 5768, VICTIM Act of 2022, and H.R. 6448, Invest to Protect Act of 2022.

U.S. Representatives Ami Bera, M.D. (D-CA) and Larry Bucshon, M.D. (R-IN), yesterday introduced bipartisan legislation to provide critical relief to physicians who are scheduled to receive Medicare payment cuts. The Supporting Medicare Providers Act of 2022 would ensure payments to these providers are kept stable and extend certain increases in payments for physicians’ services under the Medicare program through 2023.

The Improving Seniors’ Timely Access to Care Act (H.R. 3173) would make it easier for seniors to get the care they need and improve health outcomes by streamlining and standardizing the way Medicare Advantage (MA) plans use prior authorization, while increasing oversight and transparency of health insurance for America’s seniors.
