Bera Applauds the Passage of FY 2020 National Defense Authorization Act
The bill includes Bera provisions on pandemic preparedness and financial literacy support for veterans
Congressman Ami Bera, M.D. (CA-07) voted yesterday to help pass the FY 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which passed the House of Representatives in a strong bipartisan vote. The NDAA provides the annual budget for the Department of Defense.

Rep. Ami Bera, M.D. released the following statement after news broke that the Trump administration will not waive shipping restrictions that are delaying Puerto Rico relief:
"As a doctor, I am gravely concerned about the growing humanitarian crisis in Puerto Rico. There are 3.4 million American citizens in dire need of drinking water, food, medical supplies, and electric power. We have to act now and use every option available to support response efforts.

Sacramento County approves more funding for Mather Veterans Village

Veterans services in Sacramento County got a nice shot in the arm last year with the Mather Veterans Village modern housing complex for veterans, and now money for Phase II has been approved.
Congressman Ami Bera accepted the International Franchise Association's (IFA) 2017 Franchise Small Business Award last week for his support of the small business community. Rep. Bera was recognized for championing local franchises and businesses, as well as his leadership on smart policies that promote economic growth and job creation.
